Sierra Boggess Biography

Sierra è nata il 20 maggio 1982, è un'attrice di teatro americana ed è una soprano. E' nata e cresciuta a Denver, in Colorado con le sue due sorelle, Summer e Allegre. Tutte e tre erano membri del Colorado Children's Chorale. I suoi genitori sono Kellun Turner e Michael Boggess. Ha frequentato la George Washington High School e si è diplomata alla Millikin Universitu con un BFA in musical teatrale.
Prima del suo successo sul palco, ha cominciato la sua carriera come sostituta di Cosette nel tour US de "Les Misérables". Ha anche interpretato i ruoli di Binky e Ram Dass nel musical Princesses. Tra i suoi lavori precedenti ci sono anche West Side Story (Maria), The Pirates of Penzance (Mabel), Sweet Charity (Charity) e The Boy Friend (Polly).
Sierra ha interpretato anche Ariel nel 2007 nell'adattazione di Broadway del film disney del 1989, La Sirenetta. La sua ultima performance come Ariel è stata il 31 maggio 2009 in seguito fu sostituita con Chealsea Morgan Stock.
Il suo grande successo sul palco avvenne interpretando Christine Daeé nel musical di Andrew LLoyd Webber Phantom-The Las Vegas Spectacular a Las Vegas nel giugno del 2006.
Attualmente sta interpretando Christine Daeé nel sequel de The Phantom of the Opera, Love Never Dies, che è iniziato nel West End a Londra il 22 Febbraio 2010 e ufficialmente il 9 Marzo 2010.
Ha preso anche parte al "The Rodgers and Hammerstein Prom" alla Royal Albert Hall il 22 Agosto 2010 che è stato trasmesso il 28.
Sierra sarà poi nel ruolo di Sharon accanto a Tyne Daly, nel rilancio di Master Class del Broadway theatre, che inizierà li 24 di maggio 2011, e che sarà ufficialmente aperto li 24 di giugno.

Looks like Sierra Boggess — who plays the tragic soprano Christine of Love Never Dies, the London sequel to The Phantom of the Opera — will face another terrifying musical genius this spring. She'll play the nervous and feisty soprano who talks back to waspish diva Maria Callas in Broadway's new production of Master Class.



The American actress who originated the role of The Little Mermaid on Broadway will play Sharon, acting (and singing) opposite Tony Award winner Tyne Daly in Terrence McNally's biographical play about a tension-filled Juilliard master class with the legendary opera star. Audra McDonald originated the role of Sharon, and won a Tony Award for it.

Additional casting for the Manhattan Theatre Club production (which begins May 24 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre) will be announced. Opening night is June 21.

Boggess recently received an Olivier Award nomination as Best Actress in a Musical for her work in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Love Never Dies. For The Little Mermaid, she was nominated for Drama Desk and Drama League awards. Boggess also played Christine in the Las Vegas production of The Phantom of the Opera.

Stephen Wadsworth will direct Master Class, as he did for an earlier engagement at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

According to MTC, "In Master Class, Boggess will play Sharon, a singer in Maria Callas' Juilliard master class. Terrence McNally's award-winning play about Maria Callas takes us to one of her famous master classes where, late in her own career, she challenges the next generation to make the same sacrifices and dare to rise to the same heights she did, making her the most celebrated, the most reviled and the most controversial singer of her times."

This production, which is offered as part of MTC's 2010-2011 subscription series, will be the first show to open as part of the 2011-2012 Broadway season.

The creative team for Master Class includes Thomas Lynch (scenic design), Martin Pakledinaz (costume design), David Lander (lighting design) and Jon Gottlieb (sound design).

ritiro tutto quello che ho detto sul fatto che sierra non la trovassi una buona christine in phantom. E' veramente stupenda forse una delle migliori! Un pò troppo esaltata forse ma ok ci stava mi è piaciuta davvero tanto

Sierra sarà Fantine in Les Miserables a Londra quest'estate anche se non si sa ancora che data inizierà, prenderà il posto di Caroline Sheen, incinta del primo figlio.
